Hunter's Last Soccer Game

Saturday was the last day of soccer for Mandell and Hunter. Hunter saved the best for last. As you can see in this video, Hunter never fails to figure out a way to beat the system. I'm not sure where he gets those skills, but nevertheless, they paid off. He seems to abide by the family motto: "Work smarter, not harder." :-)

Halloween 2008

Halloween 2008 was a fun, friend-filled day/night. First, Cooper's 3 month old girlfriend, Emma Jean came over for her first Halloween. She and Cooper had fun until Emma Jean had to leave. Then, Cooper invited another girl friend over. Megan from next door joined us on our trick-or-treat stroll. Mandell and Hunter joined the older kids in the neighborhood on the kid wagon for an hour or so. We had such a great time. The mountain of candy is simply ridiculous.

Flat Stanley Goes to the Race

Mandell's new friend, Flat Stanley, is a little boy who was flattened by his bulletin board and now travels the world. Before he leaves us on his big adventure around the world, Flat Stanley wanted to go on an adventure right here in Georgia. We took him to the NASCAR race in Atlanta this weekend. Below are some of his photos from the big adventure.

Stanley with #20 Home Depot driver Tony Stewart

Stanley with #02 Home Depot driver Joey Logano (He's 18 and will replace Tony Stewart in '09)
Stanley with members of the U.S. Air Force

Stanley with one of our favorite cars - Kevin Harvick's #29
Stanley with Ga's Governor - Sonny Perdue

We never guessed we would see our Headmaster Mr. Rhodes at the race!

Soccer Season Begins

Today we started soccer season. This is Hunter's first year and unlike baseball, Mandell and Hunter will not be on the same team. A bit of a logistical challenge, but at least we are practicing on the same night.
Cooper was pretty frustrated that he didn't get to practice. We just can't seem to convince him that he is only 16 months and not 4.
Enjoy and check back for more pics from the season.

Costumes and Creativity

There is no question that The Brothers Hudson have gotten their daddy's artistic/creative gene. The pictures below are just a couple of the costumes we've seen in the last week or so. Hunter is Daniel Boone and Mandell is Luke Skywalker (Think "Empire Strikes Back" Luke in the snow...) Never a dull minute around here!

Happy 70th Birthday Papa!

Papa celebrated his 70th Birthday on Thursday, August 14th. To help put some perspective on how good life can be at 70, take a look at this video of Papa from last summer. Though he was only 69, he hadn't done this trick since he was 19! Just like riding a bike, right?

Max's Poos Party / Back to School Party

Max Leo, a.k.a Mr. Messy, has reached a major milestone. He has had a whole week of no accidents with "wees or poos" as he likes to call them. To celebrate, he and his brother Jack spent the night with the Hudson Boys. After making pizzas (they actually tasted really good) and having cookie cake for desert, the pack showered and went off to the movies (or were banished to the playroom, whichever way you want to look at it!)

Popcorn and milk were served at the concession stand, and unlike most movie theatres, when you watch Star Wars at Hudson Cinemas, you can jump up from your seat and have your own light saber fights, or shoot your neighbor with a blaster gun.

After the movie, everyone was so exhausted, they went straight off to a galaxy far far away and had sweet dreams of destroying another planet.

Mandell's First Day of School

Tuesday, August 12th will be a day that we won't soon forget around here. Mandell became the first of the Brothers Hudson to brave the strange new world of Kindergarten. We are very excited about what's in store for us this year.

Mandell says that his favorite thing about Kindergarten so far is his teachers. That HAS to be a good sign, right? Hunter isn't so pleased with the turn of events. On the way back from taking Mandell to school today, he said, "It's going to be another sad day today isn't it Mommy?" He sure does miss his big brother. The next two weeks before pre-k starts will be long weeks for sure!
